The John Coltrane Quartet’s Ballads (Verve Essential Vinyl Series) is part of a budget-friendly audiophile-oriented campaign. Pressed on high-quality 140g vinyl, this release aims to bring legendary jazz titles to a wider audience at an affordable price point, similar to Blue Note's Essentials initiative. Recorded in late 1961 and 1962, this 1963 classic captures a tender, lyrical side of Coltrane's playing alongside his iconic quartet members McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones.
The album features standard jazz tracks like "Say It (Over and Over Again)", "You Don't Know What Love Is", and "Nancy (With The Laughing Face)"
