Mirador is the fourth solo studio album by Montreal-based post-classical pianist and composer Jean-Michel Blais, scheduled for international release on September 25, 2026, through the independent Canadian label Arts & Crafts.
Moving away from his previous contemporary minimalism, Mirador embraces a rich, "generous maximalism". Inspired by Blais’ childhood memories of growing up queer with Tourette syndrome in Nicolet, Québec, the title draws from the Latin mirari ("to marvel"). The record transforms personal history into a "stationary world tour," combining Blais' signature piano with a 12-voice baroque choir, a string quartet, and traditional Andean instrumentation. It was recorded in Montreal inside a wooden, converted chapel studio called Alchimiste to achieve an organic, human sound.
