Second Song is the upcoming fiftieth studio album by rock legend Neil Young, recorded with his backing band The Chrome Hearts. Released through Reprise Records, the album is scheduled to officially drop on September 18, 2026. It marks their second studio project together, following Talkin' to the Trees, as well as their live recording As Time Explodes.
Produced by Lou Adler alongside "The Volume Dealers" (Neil Young and Niko Bolas), this semi-acoustic record features seven tracks. Five are entirely new compositions, and two—"Casting Me Away From You" and "I'll Love You Forever"—are unreleased songs originally written in the 1960s. Musically, critics note its acoustic warmth and compare it to late-period classics like Comes A Time and Prairie Wind. The sprawling title track, released as a single in August, runs nearly 11 and a half minutes long.
